Pimps Of Joytime – ‘Jukestone Paradise’ [Review]

Ever wondered what it would sound like if Prince jammed with James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, and Jamiroquai? Well, Jukestone Paradise is about as close as you’re going to come without resorting to a classic-internet-era mashup. Pimps of Joytime know how to bring the fun, employing exquisite grooves, filthy and fuzzy guitars, and a hell of a lot of funk in order to get the job done.
First single Dance Cardia is a standout moment for sure, complete with Prince-aping vocals and strings that pop like kids’ cereal, while the urban reminisces of Waiting for My Ride; the rambunctious drive of Heart Is Wild; and unstoppable bounce of Body Party all act as landmarks on a journey toward a party-slaying, heavy-jamming climax in the form of Freedom Dancer. Overall, Jukestone Paradise is so hot and sexy, you’ll have to hide the vinyl under your mattress in a brown paper bag.
